Where the money goes
A credit bundle
You buy tokens at a price the vendor picks, the vendor buys the same API call for less, and the spread never appears on a screen you are allowed to see. That spread is the business.
Your own account
You authorise OpenRouter once, and every run lands on your own dashboard at the published rate. The $1.35 buys servers and engineering time, so the only thing we can sell you more of is a better canvas.
The same clip, priced six ways

Tokens do not.
A credit is a coupon with a deadline. Buy a thousand, use seven hundred, and the vendor keeps the rest. Your OpenRouter balance is still your balance next month, and the clip you did not make costs you nothing.

Competitor rates are the ones Higgsfield published on 6 August 2026 in its own Seedance 2.5 comparison, with no promotion running. The aBuck rate is OpenRouter's published price for the same model, billed straight to your account: 172,800 video tokens at $10.70 per million. Higgsfield's terms state that unused subscription credits expire at the end of a billing period and do not roll over.
The discount is the tell
Higgsfield is running a sale as this is written: the clip that lists at 160 credits is going for 90. A price that can be halved on a whim can be doubled the same way, and the credits you already bought buy less the morning it changes.
Nothing to discount
There is no sale here because there is no margin to put on sale. You pay ByteDance's rate through your own account, on the day you run it, and it averages out lower than any credit bundle because nobody is taking a cut in the middle.

That is the entire business. Eighty two cents a month, per person, pays for the design, the code and the support, and it is the reason features keep arriving without a price rise. The server figure comes from an audit in the repository rather than from a launch post, and the margin comes from the architecture instead of from reselling anyone's models.

Prompts, uploads and outputs are never used to train, tune or evaluate any model, ours or anyone else's. We run no training infrastructure at all.

Your provider key is encrypted on arrival and decrypted only inside the worker that calls the model. Only its last four digits are ever sent back to a browser.

The things people ask before paying.
What does the $1.35 actually buy?
Two things. The servers that store and deliver your work, which cost us about nineteen cents a month per heavy account, and the time that goes into building the next feature. It does not include model usage, which bills to your own provider account at list price.
Is there a more expensive tier coming?
Nothing is held back for a bigger plan later. There is one tier, everyone is on it, and a feature that ships is a feature you already paid for. If the price ever had to move, the product would need a different name.
Why do I need an OpenRouter account?
That is where generations bill. You authorise OpenRouter once and it issues a key scoped to your account, so the charge for every image, video or completion lands on your statement at the provider's list price instead of ours.
What does a generation cost?
Whatever the model charges. A Nano Banana Pro image runs around thirteen cents, a few seconds of Veo costs more than a dollar, and a text completion is a fraction of a cent. Each node shows its estimate before you press run.
Why $1.35 and not $1?
Card fees. Stripe takes about thirty four cents to process a sum this small, so $1.35 is what a dollar costs when it is charged monthly. A year is $12.76, because one charge loses far less to fees than twelve.
Why is sign up invite only?
Seats open in small batches so support and capacity stay honest. Paying reserves one: the invite is granted to your email address as soon as Stripe confirms the payment, and you can create the account straight away.
Can I cancel?
Yes, from Stripe, at any time. Access runs to the end of the month you have already paid for, and nothing renews after that. We do not refund the unused remainder of a period except where the law requires it.
What happens to my media if I leave?
Download anything you want to keep first. Deleting your account removes your projects, canvases and asset records immediately, and the underlying files are purged by the next scheduled cleanup. Media that no longer belongs to any canvas is deleted after a grace period of thirty days.
Which models can I use?
Everything your OpenRouter account can reach for text, images, video and speech, including the Claude, GPT, Gemini, Grok, Flux, Veo, Kling and Seedance families. Music and a handful of specialist tools route through a Replicate key you can add the same way.
Does it work on a phone?
The canvas is built for a pointer and a keyboard. It behaves on a tablet, and it is cramped on a phone, so treat mobile as a place to review work rather than make it.
